Sustainable Tourism #OnTrackForEurope
The United Nations Environment Programme adopted this definition of SustainableTourism, according to which “sustainable tourism takes full account of current and future economic and social environmental impacts and the needs of tourists, industry, and the environment and host communities”.
Trains foster sustainable economic ecosystems, provide connections across Europe, and meet traveller needs whilst safeguarding our planet's future.
Railways can enhance touristic destinations, opening new routes and fostering new value chains. For European railways, this is a chance to cater to the growing demand of climate-conscious tourists, while boosting economic growth in these regions and increasing sustainable mobility options.
It is also an opportunity to raise public awareness of sustainable tourism and highlight new tourist routes that citizens can discover through rail connections across the continent.
This summer, let's choose sustainability. Let's choose rail!
