EURELECTRIC and CER joint future-oriented vision for sustainable and competitive surface transport for Europe

The Union of the Electricity Industry (EURELECTRIC) and the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) have adopted a joint future-oriented vision for sustainable and competitive surface transport for Europe. It is a vision that supports a modal shift to rail, the deployment of electric road vehicles, and the expansion of electrified public transport services in urban areas.

EURELECTRIC and CER Alliance for the Electrification of Surface Transport sees electrification as the central way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport and to reduce the dependence of the European Union on imported oil. Both associations therefore speak out in favour of a fully electrified door-to-door multimodal transport system.
