CER welcomes trialogue results of Fourth Railway Package
The Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) congratulates the European Parliament, the Council and the European Commission for the agreement reached on 19 April on the Market Pillar of the Fourth Railway Package (revising Directive 2012/34 and Regulation 1370/2007). CER thanks the institutions involved for the efforts made to improve the regulatory framework for a more competitive railway sector.
CER welcomes the outcome of the trialogue discussions resulting in texts that generally enhance the clarity of the original legislation without subverting the rules applicable today.
The European rail sector hopes that the Coreper meeting on 27 April will confirm the trialogue’s results.
Moreover, CER is looking forward to seeing the Technical Pillar approved by the plenary of the European Parliament on 28 April.
CER Executive Director Libor Lochman said: “We will soon see the formal approval of the Technical Pillar. We hope that this is also going to happen for the Market Pillar within the next few weeks. If all of this is set, we can look forward to seeing the benefits of the new legal framework for a more competitive and more efficient rail market. We also hope that a long period of legal stability lies ahead of us.”
