Joint Position - Creating a common European mobility data space

Data is an essential driver for the further digitalisation and automation of transport operations, for the decarbonisation of mobility and for the development of new mobility solutions that can accelerate modal shift to sustainable transport modes like rail. Mobility providers are actors in the data economy, leveraging advanced data sharing and communications mechanisms to create and deliver new digital services for their customer in an integrated mobility ecosystem. 

CER and EIM welcome the EU's Mobility Data Space initiative to facilitate data sharing in the mobility sector. Our joint position paper outlines our views on the current obstacles to further data exchange and the foundational principles that should be followed for the implementation of the Mobility Data Space to ensure that its benefits outweigh its risks.
