CER Position - Train Drivers Directive
The European Commission announced in 2022 a review of Directive 2007/59/EC on certification of train drivers (the 'Train Drivers Directive'), aiming to address outdated provisions, ambiguous language, and possible scope adjustments. CER supports this revision, in particular the improvement and facilitation of the mobility of train drivers across the EU railway network.
CER is committed to maintaining a high level of safety, while also calling to avoid the disadvantages for the railway-operating community in competition with other modes of transport.
