Network of Representative Bodies (NRB)
CER is a 'Representative Body' according to Article 38 paragraph 4 of Regulation (EU) 2016/796 on the European Union Agency for Railways and the Commission decision of 11.11.2021.
As such, CER is member of the Group of Representative Bodies (GRB) - a grouping of railway associations in Europe with the role of supporting, in a transverse way, the rail sector’s input to the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) work programme and its effect on safety and interoperability. CER holds the role of Secretariat within the GRB.
CER contributes to ERA working groups by providing technical input and represents the interests of the railway undertakings at the ERA Management Board. By following a rotation principle (between CER, EIM and UNIFE), CER represents the interests of the railway sector at the ERA Executive Board. The CER ERA Steering Unit approves all CER positions papers that relate to ERA affairs and any other EU regulatory issues in the technical domain of the railway system.
