Berne Declaration - Taking the cross-border rail customer experience to the next level

The following declaration was signed by CER and European railway CEOs at the Rail CEO Summit hosted by Swiss Federal Railways SBB in Bern on 1 July 2023.

In this joint statement, the European railway and infrastructure companies reaffirm their commitment to enhancing the satisfaction of customers and thereby increasing the modal share of rail in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal. They express their vision of providing seamless, punctual, predictable and sustainable rail transport for all customers or transported goods, and of increasing the efficiency of the rail networks across Europe. Furthermore, they outline how they want to focus on the strengths of railways and seek to actively shape the rail customer experience of the future.
